This track was written on a laptop in Japan on tour 2018 - the keyboard arpeggio that the whole thing builds off was a Casio that happened to be in the guesthouse in Kyoto where we stayed. I loved the sound of that thing and was playing it every morning with my coffee nearby. I recorded it through the speak to a Zoom recorder and the track started to take shape from there.
I emailed this idea to Amy Kisnorbo and she loved it and recorded vocals within a few days and sent them back. It feels like a sequel to Black Rainbows from my previous release Delicate Empires, and I actually made an effort to link the two with the same Mellotron ‘Spanish guitar’ sound and the same cello and viola strings sound which has become a favourite of mine.
